Anyone catch the ABC show about the Artic last evening?
Greenland native and his nephew ice-fishing for Greenland Shark.
Biggest dog shark imaginable.......and fed to the dogs as well!
Caught on whale blubber at 800 metres!
Gear was a self-styled longline of 8mm poly rope with droppers attached.
Estimated weight was 1/2 a ton, length approx 12 feet!
They had to enlarge the hole they had made in the ice and then use the dog team to drag the fish from the water........now THAT is fishing!
Then there were the guys who waited 'till the peak spring low, cut out an entry hole and gathered musels from the seabed UNDER the sea-ice, for 1/2 an hour or so until the 40-foot tide turned........awesome show!
Won't even talk about the narwhals or Little Auk pies..........::) ;D 8-)
