hi guys, heading to leslie dam for the first time and was wondering where the hot spots to be were around the camping ground and what sort of lures work best down that way. Will have my tinny with me and will be fishing from the bank also.

thanks in advance for any input as its greatly appreciated.

cheers Neil

There's plenty of water to explore and I would not be fishing anywhere near the camp grounds.
From land I'd be heading towards the wall along the boulders on each side and in the boat towards the wall there is some nice deep water but check out the submerged trees opposite the camp grounds and further up stream.
It all would have changed since I was last out there though.

They seem funny with lures as one day one style will work and then the next another style/colour is needed.
Take some shrimp traps and try some bait. Never seems to fail.
Best times is dawn and dusk.
I normally get there an hour before dawn so fishing about 1/2 hour before dawn.

Enjoy yourself :)

I've done well in the past from Rocky Point down to Cod Corner.

Theres some great humps n bumps that come out from the shore opposite Washpools reserve.

Favourite lure for Leslie would be the Garra Lures - Walla

Took out a species first place at the comp there years ago using one of these.

G'Day Neil,
Not claiming to be an expert , but I would try shrimps down Sandy Creek. Always worked for me. Just watch the submerged fencelines.

Shrimps are always good if bait is your thing.

Used to be able to drive around the back of the lake to the reserve at the creek. With the dam being full it could be worth a look if it hasn't been locked up...

If your trying land based Connelly dam is worth a shot too.
Just be careful though as I think you have to be a member of the local fish stocking association to fish it.
I cannot recall the specifics as I've always been a member. Maybe Fitzy can fill the details in?
