Having just downloaded the manual for my Mercury 15hp motor there is a thousand things you can do........My question is what are some of the more basic things that should be done and would be done as part of a service.....apart from the impellar, I know about that one!! lol Thanks

Great little motors them. Gear oil, impellor and spark plug. Give it a good squirt with inox/wd40 after using and enjoy. If used frequently and running well I wouldn't bother touching the carbie.

Will save yourself some coin doing it yourself too. Check prop for wear and remove it occasionally to ensure you don't have any line wrapped round the shaft.

I wouldn't be spraying the wiring with WD-40 after a while it's not healthy for the plastic sheath, or any rubber seals between the conectors.

yep steer clear of the wd40/inox

use lanolin .. a bit thicker and way better

I also clean & test the thermostat when I do my annual service.

Thanks guys, gives me a starting point. Is there a good place online to source parts?
