i have a 225 Honda 4 stroke and and at cruise (4000RPM) which is 40km give or take, and i use around 22ltrs/hr. so i get 1.8km per ltr of fuel. A 12 hr day fishing on the heavy tackle grounds off the gold coast which is 1hr 15 out i use 130Ltrs on average per trip, however the motor doesnt turn off. So a day trolling is around $200.

Bank on atleast $150. Will really depend if your troll. However around 25 litres an hour is what you could expect in the low 20 knot bracket.

I fish with a mate who gets 1.2 kms per ltr with a 175hp 2s and another that had a 200 jono on a 213 and he could not get 1km per l he would get 55lph at 45-50 kph

The 685 Cruise Craft with a 250 Verado would chew 150 - 200 dollars on that trip. I tended to push fairly hard though, as a trip's no fun if the Deckies ain't whingein'.

The new tub will use less, but that'll be diesel.

Cheers,

Tim

Still lining up the ducks. When I know for sure, I'll start a thread so you can watch her get built!

But for the purpose of this thread, I'm looking at a Yanmar 6LPA (rated 315 HP) with a Yanmar ZT350 leg and duo prop (probably). Reading the testimonials, folks are talking a rough average of 20kn+ cruise for 20 - 30 litres an hour in a four or five tonne boat.

One fella's claiming 18 lph on a 3.5 tonne Cairns Custom Craft, with a 27 knot cruise. That would be slightly smaller than what I'm planning. Maybe...

Cheers,

Tim

Round trip, Manly to DT thru SPB approx 140km (bottom bashing). Out thru the bar, bouncing reefs all the way past Moreton and back down the inside = 165 -170km. How much fuel you use depends on whether you are a speed man or an economy man:) , and of course the conditions. (Timi was a speed man, soon it seems, he will be both;D )

Look at the last two (graph) attachments in this link, consumption and economy for a 200 4 stroke on a 625 glass boat. Hope this helps.

Pat,
It's been a while for me since doing one of these trips, but from the MBTBC through the SPB (via Rous Channel) to the bait grounds then bottom bashing various reefs and home again - approx 150kms.
All this depends on the conditions (wind/waves) including the conditions of the bar. I'll sit on 20 - 23l/hr before approaching the bar then assess the situation of the bar and proceed from there. How much it will cost also depends on the price of the fuel....

Cheers,
Wags
