Got a load of water in the fuel to my 75Hp Merc.(2 Stroke), enough to stop the engine. Not sure of source either a disloged tank breather or from the servo.
Got home by breaking the fuel line and pumping into a container until clean fuel came through. Then had to limp home with engine tilted - obviously water in the carby bowls.
I've replaced the inline filter and cleaned the tank. Have been able to drain the top 2 carbies insitu but can't get to the bottom one without removing it. The engine runs ok now and I have run it for quite a while hoping to dry out any moisture that may have got through into the crankcase.
The question for the mechanics out there. Should I take the bottom carby off to ensure it has no water in it. What is the potential for damage if I don't. Any other recommendations to preserve the motor.
