Thinking of getting a pair of the gas lift seat Pedestals, any draw backs with these
been in a boat with them off Mooloolaba with a 3M swell and 20kt wind and they really took the shock out of the pounding

Whitworths has them for around $230 each with swivel & slide/reach seat base

and I'm thinking maybe these seats in grey(from Bias Boating)

Or these from BCF($50 cheaper than above)

Hi,

For what it is worth:-

Oh and if you are interested you can have the two seats I took out of my boat for $20 - they are comparable to the one's you are looking at getting. Mine are only 30 hours use in the boat.

Thanks for that
no price on the pedestals though
I'll give them a call tomorrow
I like their "Barra Folding Seat" also

Are the pedestals in whitworths the raeline one's anyway?

No they are "Springfield"
they don't list any Rae Line pedestals on their web page, just seats

I have had the Softrider pedestals from Rae Line in my boat for years now and reckon they are great . No probs with them and the added bonus of being able to height adjust for different drivers or conditions .

I ended up getting the Springfield gas pedestals and a nice set of Springfield "Quintrex style" seats

and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I hate going into boating stores because now I have to go back to work

I have tried many gas lift seats over the years and most don’t last. I’m a big fella so maybe that doesn’t help. I’m pretty handy at fabricating and machining things up so I designed and made my own airbag suspension pedestal. It’s infinitely adjustable by simply letting air out or by inflating it by a small amount. I have made quite a few now and everyone loves them.

Should mention
I looked at the Swellride and Softride from Rae-Line and they both feel the same as the Springfield rith regards to their shock absorbing action
The sprinfield has a much beefier looking unit with 3 inch tubing cmpared to the Rae-line 2 inch

and the price difference was massive, the Springfields included the fore/aft slider which is an $80 add of from Rae-Line, time will tell I suppose as tohow long they last

It was me and no I dont have any pics or info. It took forever to get right and hours on the lathe. I made it so it would fit inside 114mm OD 6mm alloy tube. The inner tube is around 101mm OD and is also 6mm wall. The bag will carry from 50lb up to 1000lb thats 25kg to 464kg by simply adding or deflating the bag to suite your needs.
