I got an email today from Russell Nowland who lives close to the dam, he said it's past the old record of 55% and could fill by New Year. Below are a few photos Russell took this afternoon. The view from the ramp shows the whole cut through area and quarry underwater.

Mike,
Good to see. Plenty of options for the years ahead. See Wuruma is only 0.31 off the spillway at 4.20am today on the BOM River heights. It should run over today. Cania is still filling nicely.
Cheers Lucas

Yeh Lucas, I just heard on the ABC Radio that Wuruma has now started to overflow, 1st time since the mid 70's they said.

Wow, that's great.

We were in Monto back in early 1989 for 6 months and have some photos here of a flood back then. We lived about 5km towards Billo from Monto and had 3 days flood bound off work. Cania looks great at that height. I like to take a drive up if the level gets close to full just to see what it looks like.

Cania is overflowing for the first time ever. Will have to get down there when the roads open. If anyone has some photo's would love to see them. I hear they closed the dam so not many photo's would be taken of the spillway. Look forward to some great fishing in the next twelve months Cania and Wuruma both at capacity.

Try the thread "Cania Dam now overflowing", I posted photos there earlier today, and yes the road in is now closed.
Cheers
