just acquired my first haines a v213c clean swap for my 520 quintrex dory. powered by a 200 efi offshore mariner 98 2 stroke. got heaps of grunt but its thirsty .... about 2 litres per nautical mile and thats driving conservatively, and smelly. does anyone have have the same boat with a 4 stroke and fuel consumption figures.

Mouse a good mate of mine just did up a V213c, took out the old sterndrive and fitted a pod and DF200 Suzuki 4 stroke.

It did 51kts flat out on the sea trial 2 up and full fuel. Bare boat otherwise at that stage.
It does 48kts flat out loaded for family boating. Cruises very economically at 24kts. I will ask him for the burns, but I think it is about 22L/hr at 24kts.

A fantastic boat, and there is nothing built today that can compare with the ride and the layout, a true classic. Well done on your swap, you will not regret it.

Cheers,
Myles

Mate they are a fantastic boat. We used to have one with the stern drive and they can handle any seas. One of the best sea boats going. We boat a 635L to replace it, which apparently is the same hull underneath with a new top deck. You won't regret it.

cheers for that but a pod would only be an option if the transom shows itself to be suspect and in need of a rebuild. i'll get a full appraisal of the rig by a marine surveyor in the new year mainly to see if the old girl is up to the added weight of a 4 stroke

that's music to my ears, about 1l per nmile and no oil stink. really wanting to increase the range on this boat for extended reef trips. tank holds 250l

Nice boat mate. Its hard to go past the sheer glass used in the oldens.

i have some mates with a 200 Suzuki 4 stroke on their HH 635L (same hull) and it flies and will cruise at 25knots for approx 23lph. a great hull and i cannot work why no one has reinvented it like Edencraft or Cootacraft. Enjoy the boat but i agree you need to do something about the engine !

Thats an unbelievably good swap especially if the hull comes up OK. Looks like santa
came early. Have to pity the poor guy in the dory if he expects anywhere near the
performance.
