Beware electric anchor winch.

I have a drum type electric anchor winch and it occurred to me that if the boat looses its electrics and you can't start the motor and you start drifting then you could be in a whole lot of trouble as the anchor will not unwind, so it is imperative that you carry a spare anchor and rope with you.

AND ensure your electrical system and engine is up to standard to lessen the risk of an electrical failure. A 2nd Battery would be a good start.

Most better winches have a manual system to deploy and retrieve the anchor
