Yeah as Dale said, spangled perch, a very bland looking one though. Sometimes these guys are very pretty with the deep gold colour of their dots and they can grow up to around the 25cm mark. You usually see this loss of colour with dirty coloured water. Was the water pretty muddy where you got it from ?

The water was quite muddy from all the recent rain. (See pic below) I didn't think it was a spangled after googling some pics due to it not having any large bright spots like others had posted, so thanks for the input.
