G'day

Wondering if lake MacDonald, Lenthalls, Or lake gregory are able to be fished landbased at all? More so if there is a chance of catching anything landbased? I may have a week off in january, and will be driving past all three of these dams so thought may stop for a fish.

Cheers
Mitch

What type fo fishing are you talking about lure (cast and retrive ) or bait ??
Lake Macdonald is pretty much weed around all the edges but there is a jetty down towards the wall where you can cast a bait off into no weed ! BUT I don't think at this time of the year there are too many fish down that end of the dam PLUS its probably overflowing the wall by about 2 foot thick at the moment !! If you are prepared to walk a bit ( past the 200m exclusion zone) there are plenty of nice snags to throw a lure at BUT beware it might be cobbled up by one of the resident Mary River Cod that inhabit that area !

PS - as for the other dams I'm not lure about ?

Gregory and Lenthall are a like McDonald, plenty of weed beds and limited access from the shore.

At Gregory, you could wade out at the launching area or walk out along the dam wall near the launching area. Any kind of watercraft would be a better option.

At Lenthall you could try from the launching area and there's also a small wharf you could try from. The dam wall is out of bounds. Again, any kind of water craft would be a better option.

Have a look at these links:

Hope you catch a few ;D
