Try "Ringwood and Ply" at archerfield. You need an ABN to buy off them though.

Thanks for the leads, now for a few visits. I will probably knock together a 13' hartley designed boat. have built a few in the past and all have performed well. cheers john

Try sharps plywood in wacol. A mate of mine in the marine industry buys ply from them, but not sure if its for interior or exterior use though.

Cant help you with plywood supplies, but do yourself a favour and check out Bowdidge Marine Designs - Local Budaberg boat designer and has some very good designs for timber, inlcuding modern strip plank composite boats.

It realy depends on what sort of ply you want and your price v quality priorities.

DMK down a burleigeh specialise in the european birch plies.....it is beautifull stuff...dense, consistent and machines very nicely bit it is heavy and expensive. They may have other stuff these days.

I have not dealt with MR PLY, but a mate of mine used to do quite a bit with them.......not as good to deal as they used to be he recons and if ya wnat the good price ya have to apply the screws......they have BB Hoop which is nice stuff.

I have not dealt with Sharp... but they have a rep as being price competitive.

For small amounts, I go to Wood panel centre at Capalaba....price competitive but not there if ya want realy nice stuff.

There is a crowd in Railway Pde at thornside that are competitive and have some nice marine applicable plies...they used to do palwonia with gibboon faces ply but dont know if they still do...this stuff was strong as and half the weight of meranti.

Boatcraft pacific down at chetwed st loganholme are definitle a go......their ply is pretty damn consistent, and ya want to talk to them about epoxy anyway.

Pacific maple/ meranti/ asian rape & pillage ply used to be the common thing to use if ya did not want to use pine.....but in some of the suppliers this has been replaced with some chineese stuff....no idea the spicies.... but hell its light and I don't think it has the strenght or durability of the meranti... but I mught be wrong.

Ya realy gota shop it arround......so much different stuff arround...I doubt two different supplies will offer you the same thing.......ya gota look at the sheets....and ya got compare price v quality.

OH... of course.... regardless of the supplier......you need to inspect every sheet....... best to collect and select your sheets.....or you will get the sheets off the top that everybody else has rejected.

cheers
