I am trying to find out how to obtain official electronics charts for australian waters. This is the official website, apparently for electronic charts globally:

http://www.ic-enc.org/

Now if you visit the AHS website here:

http://www.hydro.gov.au/seafarer/enc/enc.htm#obtainENC

It refers you to the worlds worst website, ic-enc website for pricing and details on how purchase.

Fooked if I know. I have only had 2 glasses of wine and I cant figure it out. All I want is some official charts of Brisbane on my computer so I can keep MSQ happy with regards to my organisation of yacht races.

Have a look at the following link.
You will need to download all the modules and extract the files as they are a .rar file.
Theres heaps of charts there, just have a browse around the site.

Thanks gents. I am actually chasing the official charts as published by AHS.

I have nav planner which is ok for saving and viewing waypoints, but due to liability issues I need to use official charts.

That link looks interesting Lance. might be able to make a nice chart plotter for the yacht with that one!

One of the downloads there is of the entire east coast iand is in Raster format meaning the chart is made up from scans from official charts.
Let me know if you have trouble finding it and I will find it again and post the link or send you the file.

1. Why do you want ENC's

2. What system/hardware do you have to run an ENC?

3. What size is your ship?

4. RNC's are "Official Electronic Charts" compliant in the right hardware and viewer available if all you want to do is look. Many outlets in Australia handle these over the counter.

1. Read my first post.
2. Read my first post.
3. Read my first post.
4. Its cheaper to buy a paper map and do it the old way, then scan. This is probably what I will end up doing.

1. I believe I can read hence the query regarding why you even are interested in looking at ENC's for any reason. This site is very ENC specific, works and way off your line.

2. As previously mentioned you should be looking at RNC, freely available at many outlets, viewable on a computer (with application) and way ahead of paper and manual scanning, which is then not "official"

3. I do believe you stated you wanted "official" charts?
