Mate you can get the reel from American Legacy Fishing in the US.
Tom Ashby is the man. Great communication, prices and products.

Just another option on the rod, an Egrell "BeaR Essential" a powerful rod to work heavy jigheads for bottom dwellers such as Coral Trout & Reds. Half the price of a Smith.

There are plenty of cheaper internet stores, but Melton International Tackle are among the biggest in the business. I've used a couple of times, shipping to both Australia and Hong Kong. Extremely fast and reliable.

what kind of fish will you be chasing? I paired mine with a t curve lucanus 60-200g very nice rod and reel combo. Also i bought a 10000 spool and put 50 and 80lb braid. Make sure it has australian warranty. I bought mine in aus.

Big reefies, reds nannies,ex large fingermark, gts any think really that normal 4500 saltiga reels cant stop i still get blown away by massive fingermark on 50 pound braid on a saltiga 4500 with a 24kg tcurv there the ones i need to stop that are over a metre the combo is going to be a heavy palstic rod and i have thought about buying a spare spool and chucking 80pound on it for a gt combo also on another rod, sort of killing two birds with the one stone doing it that way..

I can see why you are going the stella. Watched channel 31 last night to see a 100kg plus blue fin tuna get taken with one off tassie. It was a long hard fight but the stella held up well. They very nearly saw the end of the spool on the first run and had to take off real quick in the boat to get some line back.

just amazing to see a threadline work like that. carn't tell you the rod unfortunately.

Get your reels off ReelsSeller on ebay, excellent service, I have purchased numerous reels off him without fault. Last purchase was a Stella and Shimano had sold a batch with a weak screw in the line roller, he paid for all shipping to return the reel and sent me a new one within a week.

As for a rod, I have a Gary Howard 15-30 snapper rod which I have my Stella 10000 on, awesome combo, has landed reds to 12kg with easy (purchased at Jones Tackle). I am pretty sure it is built on the same blank as the 15-30lb Pro Blue Loomis though, American Legacy is the place to buy any Loomis Rods. I would go a 10000 as it is just the 8000 with a bigger spool.

I looked at a rod today its the new line of daiwa rods it was a saltist demon blood db762x 228cm and rated to 5 - 6 pe it felt ok with stella on it and is only $320 im hitting up between this and smith gtk74 big price difference between the two with the smith being $650 the smith has a bit more softer tip for ijgging plastics so need to toss up the two..

These rods were named best Saltwater rods at Icast and will take some beating. They would be custom made for work with a Stella

These are really top heavy plastic/ light jig rods and are far more versatile than the name suggests. Paired mine with a 4500 Daiwa and would love to put a Stella on it. I like the rod so much I bought a second one to put a Talica 8 on, such a sweet outfit and casts very well for a lever drag.

Hi Jackextracter,
To the best of my knowledge they are only available overseas. Try contacting Shimano here in Aus for a perhaps predicted release date. Looking at the specs over the range there is something for everyone in the heavier saltwater work arena. Very impressive rod in my opinion, tackletour also have a review on them although i do not have the link for you as i write. I will look into them seriously for my next high end rod purchase.
