Hi,

I am looking to put 4 blade stainless props on my NC 2700 and just after a bit of advice. Instead of approaching a prop manufacturer and trialling props I would prefer to have a starting point to save some hassle.

Has anyone here done something similar? I have Yamaha 150 4 bangers on it with standard props and I am more after economy than speed.

Cheers,

Shane

Hi Shane i have just fitted a pair of Suzuki 175's to my 2700 and am playing with the Solas Lexor 20" 4 bladers, but will trial a pair of 18" with heavy cupping in the next week or so, essentially making them a 19". with the 20" it still hits 40 knots and will cruise on 25knots at around 4300rpm. When choosing a size for the Yammie's i would choose the next size down from the Suzuki as they run different gear ratio's. i would suggest start with the 18", i will let you know how i go.

Hey Shane, once again very late response and you've probably had it sorted by now but i just recently resized the prop on the suzi. I had it resized from 19" to 17.5" approx, picked up additional 700rpm, another 10klm p/hr and better fuel economy all for $160 and 3 day turn around. No cavitation runs great.

140's on a 2700 :o :o ibet you see a huge improvement with the 175's !!!

in good conditions i'm using around 55-59lph at 25 knots, the 175's have surprised me alot

That makes me feel better Julian. I generally use about the same and I was thinking she might be a bit thirsty.... I guess it is a lot of boat to push with 150's.

Julian,

It is a huge improvement in everything apart from economy. Even doing 4900 to 5000 rpm for 25 to 26 knots i was lucky to be burning 45 litres per hour.
Thanks for the info on the lph i did not think it was that high, i will have to recallibrate my fuel management system.

Cheers,

Phil

Bob P,

You will probably notice a huge hike in the fuel price since you last went fishing, that is why these things need to be done.

Cheers,

Phil
