406 epirb

Gday,
How do i go about registering the 406 in my name, have just bought another 2nd hand boat and the epirb came with it, so best i change the owners details to mine.

You will have to get the previous owner to take his name of it then you can register it in your name .

The answer depends on a few things...

a) have you registered an epirb before?
b) was the epirb you just aquired registered by the previous owner?

I recently bought a second hand boat, which came with an unregistered epirb. I went to my account online (http://beacons.amsa.gov.au/) from my previous epirb, and added the new one's details. Things might have been slightly different if the previous owner had done the right thing and registered it.

nope never registered one before, have only had creek boat, i might check the web address you have given me and see what i can do, the old owner does have it registered in his name.

As Dave_S said, ask the previous owner to advise AMSA that he has sold the boat and epirb.
