What should difference in speed

I have a new F15cc Formula with a 75 Honda which has a top speed of 36mph not trimmed out.
My son had a 445f Haines with a 60 hp
Yamaha 2 stroke and it did the same speed.
Been told the Formula is heavier than the haines.
Could this be the reason and also weight difference in motors.

Quite possibly, age of OB, prop variations, hull design/wieght.. two strokes generally run a bit harder imho, how hp is hp ?...

How are you getting these speeds? GPS or pitot tube speedos? What was the tide doing? Were you side by side?

Smithy he sold his a long time ago and when i mentioned to him what speed i was getting he said there was something wrong as he was getting that speed from his 60 hp.
Mine is brand new and i opened her up to see what it would do then backed off.
Reading was off the speedo and as i said i did not have it trimmed out.
Not worried but more to do with the same hulls but one engine is a 4 stroke with 15 more hp.
Very strong winds coming off the cape.

don't worry about comparing one boat against another..it is a waste of time. Just try and make sure you have the correct prop to suit your boat so that motor operates correctly .

The formula is a fair bit heavier boat than the 445. Might pay to ask Rob, the builder, what you could expect with your setup. He should have all the figures. As other have said its not really about other boats but making sure that your boat is set up right for the long haul.
