Hi Guys I was out on the weekend and bottomed out on a sand bank at low tide and my engine doesn't seem to be cooling and there is no water spitting out of the motor I think it may have sucked in some sand which may be blocking it up. If this is the case How do i fix the problem?

If your not proficient in taking the gearbox off and checking the waterpump then best getting a mech to do it for you.

It does seem like in all likelihood you have sucked in some sand.

Good luck with it.

Yep sand in there somewhere. Just check the pisser and the hose leading into it as it is probably blocked at that end. Use some wire and give it a clean out if need be. See how that goes and if you get some water happening again you would still need to check the impeller, as Steeler says, as the sand could've damaged it.

Shouldn't cost too much and get the mechanic to show you how its done if you can then you'll be able to do it yourself next time.

Avoid using wire, best to use whipper snipper cord .. less chance of punching a hole in something :P
