There is a fellow called Benny - does really good work. Been around a long time. He used to work for Arnold at Arnold's fibreglass....(he has left there).....

I can get his details if you want.

Yep left there Blackened. At the moment if you want to check out some of his custom work there is a nice Reef Runner at the Merc dealer at Cav Road...

As for re-gelcoating...I dont think thats possible, but a full rub back, fill, base coat and industrial 2 pac finish (if you take everything off yourself - gunnel rubbers, fitting etc) for that size boat is about $8,000 to $10,000 based on a recent quote I got for my Vag.

G'day

You can re gelcoat, but it's not very common.... 2 pac is the way to go. How bad is the gel coat that's on there now?

Thats interesting...didnt know that could be done mate. I thought the problem with 2 pac was that it was as never as robust or deep as gel coat, although Benny was telling me that there is an industrial 2 pac that as long as you let it get about 6 months old before scratching it gets really hard.

Sure is a big figure Vitamin C...I was only mildly curious. Mine is still in pretty good nick. I would never spend that sort of dough on an old boat even one I like as much as the Vag.

Mick - that $8-10k WAS for 2 pac...

G'day

PlayPen was gel coated if I remember correctly, and he's right in saying the two pac is much thinner, that's the nature of it.

Maybe you could get away with a really good cut back, polish and wax.
