So I hit the local freshwater scene on the weekend.
Got picked me up from home at around 9am and we made our way to the next town called Fengang. Landbased impoundment fishing was the name of the game. The locals use long ass fishing poles and fish baits (made up of some sort of flavoured dough) under a float, no reel. I guess the sticks are around 15foot long and when they hook a fish they just play it using the length of the rod.
Some of the fellas nearby hooked some nice size fish - perhaps 3-4kg. I caught nothing. The fish seem to go pretty hard, not sure what they were- guessing grass carp or chinese carp, plenty of topwater headshakes once hooked.
During the day there were consistent bust ups on the top of the water so it did get me thinking perhaps i could go there and throw some poppers around. Anyway you can check the pics out.
Ugly ass place but at least the fish were a decent size.
Anyone know of my chances catching these things on artificials?
cheers,
