I was wondering if anyone had any information about repairing/replacing a leaking helm cylinder? The boat has seastar hydraulic steering, and there is a small leak from the helm cylinder.
Has anyone repaired one in the past or does anyone know of somewher in townsville that this could get done? Hopefully a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit.

parts should be easy to get, and pretty simple to pull apart, make sure it is not a connector leaking.

BLA via any local dealer or teleflex can supply any helm parts
Here is a list of kit numbers

Can't see a diagram of parts breakdown but it is there somewhere
Are you sure it is a leak around the shaft and not overfull of oil or a weeping hose / olive fitting?Parts prices maybe OK or silly. In a lot of cases it is just a standard size oring in most hydraulic stuff or a standard size seal. Well worth checking it isn't your shaft surface that is stuffed or a bent shaft from too much weight hanging on the steering wheel.
Worst case they are pretty cheap in USD with the aussie being strong.
We put up with a small weep for a very long time

Dan,
I have a brand new seastar helm pump that I won't be using. Have sent you a PM.
Regards,
Dave.
