Hi Guys, hope this is in the right section.

Mate and myself just bought a 13ft Tinny, not made by a commercial boat builder. Built in 1983, its registered and everything is legit about it, but it seems that we cant find an insurer that will insure it, as its not built commercially.

On the rego papers, make and model are just listed as "unknown"

Any suggestions for who to talk to?

I understand the actual insurance side of things, as I work for a specialty insurer but in the automotive side of things, and we never have an issue with this kind of thing, .. we just do it.

Cheers

Damo

If it wasnt built commercially, then it would be assumed that it was home amde? If so then the rego papers need to read "homemade" instread of unknown. Thats how i got aprevious trailer registered and insured, had it labbelled home made and bought a plate from queensland transport and scribed the appropriate details on the plate such as tare gross etc. then pop rivet the plate on the trailer.

Thanks once again Mike,

I know how painful it can be dealing with RTA/ACT Rego can be under normal circumstances .... I cant see this being easy and/or fun :(
