First time spear - Mudjimba/old woman island

I have never been spear fishing before, my mate is starting to get into it, and we are heading out to old woman island to have a try, is that a good spot?
its on the sunny coast by the way.

Shane, my guess would be that at the moment, almost anywhere on the sunny coast would be good, at worst. As long as the conditions are suitable, that is.

Have a friend on the North Coast who is a good spearie and wouldn't even bother getting wet near old woman island!
