Hydro Marine- Try Gull-Wings reef seeker

Hi,

I have being looking at purchasing a Hydro Marine Try Gull-Wings reef seeker 5.4m centre console. Has any one had any experience repainting the sides of these vessels. This one has bubbling & flaking paint but it appears to have very thick paint or some other sort of filler on the sides only. May be to provide a nicer looking finish? I would like to repaint the entire vessel but unsure how the sides were originally finished or if I could just strip the existing paint/ filler off and then respray.
