I'm about to start some major work on my cruise craft and i am wondering where is the cheapest place in Cairns to buy marine ply sheets?

Thanks, Neil.

Dont know what the cheapest place in Cairns is, but if you are going to buy marine ply....make sure it is rated to AS standards....otherwise it is NOT marine ply. (true marine ply is stamped on the sheet). The glue is NOT the determining factor in whether it is marine ply....they use the same glue in CD, BB, DD, Formply and bending ply. It is the fact that marine ply has no core gaps, and has a durabilty 1 or 2 rated face ply. Also note that the edges MUST be sealed for it not to delaminate.

Go down to Cairns Hardware and have a talk to Craig....he will put you on the right track. Remember ....you get what you pay for.

Am fixing up an old hartley (in Cairns) - the first lot of "marine ply" i got i went for the cheaper stuff. Don't waste your time looking for the "cheapest" marine ply. You will pay for it in the end when you have to redo the job....

Get the Aus stuff and you should have no issues.

Stuff i'm using now - i've been getting from Wren Timbers (off Hartley Street).
