I'm one of the newbies on site and in boating, looking to buy a boat.

I need something that I can take fishing up the Pilbara coast, up to 100km offshore, surviving if the weather turns suddenly! :o

I came across a 5.5m Genesis with a 90HP Optimax. What's your views on this boat, and what will you recommend in aluminium and HP?

Thanks!

I dont know the Genisis but I do know the Pilbara coast. You want a boat that can take a bit of a wave over the front without letting too much water onboard. Watch out for the Indian Ocean it can change its temperment pretty damn quick and catch you out if your not on top of your game. If you are going out up to 100k you want make sure you have some serious fuel capacity as well.
Speak with some locals and if going out that far think about two boats.

Cheers

and your statistics showing the optimax is more likely to fail then any other brand?

black anchor tag is bs on the current engines read last 10 + years

any current engine will be reliable, but then lemons can pop up anywhere
