Just wanted to try something different, heard good things about sunline.

Over fireline & stren microfuse.

Thought spending a little more coin might be a wise choice.

I have 30lb Castaway on a 3000 Daiwa and I reckon its the most trouble free braid I have ever used on a spinning reel. I have been using a bit of Power Pro a bit lately as well and I reckon thats excellent value for money.

Super PE over 10lbs, I dont really like it in the lighter line class, stick to Stren. I use 10lbs, 15 and 20, 30 and 40lbs Super PE, all trouble free
Forget light Castaway too, I run 50lbs Castaway on my Certate and its a great line

I'd go super pe mainly for the price. It's great line and it's green.

super pe mate

found castaway prone to wind knots, lost count of how many lures ive watched sail into the distance broken from a wind knot.

never had one with super pe. nor fireline for that matter

In the lighter stuff Super PE, I run 6 lb on all bream gear and found it to be great, 12 months of solid use with ZERO wind knots thus far(fingers crossed).
Would steer clear of the Castaway in anything larger than 10lb. Sunline have tried to make an IGFA braid and didn't quite work. It is an 8 plait braid so it casts brillantly but is a hybrid line not a true PE, hence don't trust advertised breaking strain i.e 80lb breaks at around 52lb. Same can be said about the 10lb, will break around 6 or 7lb.

I use the super PE on bream gear in 6lb on Sol 2500 x 2
and snapper on sustain 6000 (30lb) and Sol 3000 (20lb).

If your looking for the next step up look for something from out of the Varivas stable. It is pricey but is second to none. Lines like the Sea Bass and Casing PE are very nice lines but if you can find it they make light 8 plait jigging lines8-)

If you can find the other PE sunline make on the shelf somewhere could please pm us mate. Would love to give it a try!!!

Surprisingly - Its generally excepted that the opposite holds true ( the cheaper fused braids work better - particularly 3,4,6 & 8lb for spin gear) - these stiffer , wiry type superlines ( stren micro , firelines , spiderwire , fins etc) suffer less from wind knots or guide wrap. If you want to try better options - you can look at fins ...... I'm trying power pro atm & after 1 trip it certainly behaves better than the fireline that it has replaced - & will get a really good work out this weekend on a bass dam.

Baitcast is different where softer , rounder braids (like the sunline products) work best .

I'm using 16lb PE1 Castaway on a 2500 Stella and its great. It will break under (14lb) and it is supposed to. Also running 30lb PE2 on a Zillion. If you want line capacity go for an 8 ply PE, but if you want a braid that breaks nearly 3 times its rating just buy fireline.

I'm running the Super PE in 20, 30 and 50 for Barra and Black Bass, can't fault it. 600mt spools are quite economical. Up to 14lb I still use Fireline.
