My Son-In-Law has a 30hp yamaha outboard on his 4.2m front runner tinny. Wondering how much drama and costs would be involved in converting it to electric start?
I presume it is the starter motor, some cabling, an ignition switch and possibly a couple of failsafes to stop it being started in gear?
Is there anything else involved?

He'll also need charging components (if not there already but electric starts usually have a higher output), brackets to mount everything.
Usually cost effective to sell his and buy one with electric start fitted.

The cost of the starter and mounting hardware is the usually the biggest hurdle.

Thanks mate, Thought it might be the case.
Getting the starter motor for a decent price is not an issue, but the rest of the crap could be.

Jack, mate...if you can get a starter cheap enough the rest is kids play especially if the ring gear is already on the flywheel.
Has he got charging on it now?
Start solenoids and the such can be found quite easily if you know where to look.
Don't be afraid to look offshore as well.
Have a look here to see what is needed and what he already has on his motor
Crowley have a very comprehensive parts catalogue and with the aussie dollar it's worth a try....maybe??.
