I use Yamalube but I undertand that it is rebadged caltex havaline premium oil. This subject has been discussed at some length so a search will return you quite a bit of info.

Honda has just switched over to this new oil in the link below..

There would be many oils out there on the market that meet or exceed the NMMA's specifications but because they choose not to pay to list that certification on there packaging consumers think its unsuitable.

I ran my last Yam 4stroke on Yamalube til 100 hrs then changed over to a full synthetic oil with fc-w certification with the same drain intervals i.e. not extended drain intervals.

I ran the skis ( 1052cc 4 strokes producing 160hp running at 10,000 rpm all day long) on yamalube til 100 hrs and changed them as well (to the fc-w full synth).

Very expensive oil though at $18 dollars a litre and IMHO not that necessary in a 4 stroke outboard running to meagre 5500- 6000 rpm. I'd stick with the far cheaper Yamalube and shorten the drain interval and filter change by 25%.
