Maroochy River Bar

Would like to know how many fellow boaties use the Maroochy River Bar entrance, is it safe when the conditions are right.

On a run-in tide with westerly winds and low swell. Not many people bother with Mooloolaba so close and handy, why risk it?

I was useing it a at xmas time in a mates 16foot centre consol, like any bar if the conditions are right it is dead easy. This bar gan get pretty ugly, we were using a channel on the left when heading out near the rocks of pincushion Isl. But be warned the channel moves around on this bar and could be else where by now.

Use it for all my trips out, its bar worthy of respect...have had some pretty exciting crossings on occaison...:-/
