Here is a link to the boat if it helps. Advertised as a 1700 but it's a 1600.

According to Jeff Websters "Seconghand Boat"books, the specs for the Mustang 1600 (Half Cabin) are as follows.
Length: 4.8m
Beam: 2.13m
Deadrise: 18 degrees (estimated)
Hull weight: 420 kg
Weight on trailer 900 kg
Maximum power: 115 hp
Kind regards... David

I had a mustang open runabout.
Seated 5 people, took up to 115hp.
I ran a 70hp mercury pushed it along nicely.

Thanks for taking the time Sooty and Swamp. Appreciate it.

Think i'm in a spot of bother then as it's got a 120hp on it. Most likely won't get insurance. As it was advertised as a 5.18 metre I assumed it to be licensed for 6 and have a max hp of 120 to 150. Wasn't till after I bought it that I thought I should measure it. First foray into boating hasn't started off well:(

You know there two thoughts of mesurments when mesuring a boat.
The first is from bow to transum.
The second is bow to back of the motor???????
Think about it.

Not the end of the world, get yourself a 115hp cowl and plead ignorance, its not like there would not be thousands of others out there.

Or get a shipwright to check it out and certify it if need be.

Thanks guys.
Think I might look at getting a shipwright to check it out and certify as I would hate to have an accident without (third party) insurance. Don't wan't the boat to financially ruin us (wife thinks it already has).
Took the kids out on the bay yesterday, turned around and saw this
.. .. .. .. ..
U U U U U love it. Cheers

Hi guys, just found this thread and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on this hull. I am looking at purchasing a 16ft runabout with a 2002 Mercury 2 stroke on the back. The boat has had a transom rebuild and stringers replaced (owner is a fibreglass boat builder). It also has a pod on the rear for the engine.
Any info on build quality and hull performance would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

Dont ferget to add the Bow Sprit & Roller...I see Boat yards/companies do it all the time ;)8-)

Cheers, Ray.

Yes Ray, and the change in HP rating of the engines may affect that model as well.

Yeldub, have you taken the boat for a few runs and do you like it? That wuld be my starting point.
