I just got back from picking up a barra mount from Glenn Stewart at Nerang. Not to be confused with the other Glenn Stewart from Cave Beach NSW who does excellent fish mounts too.

Anyway, here are a few pics of some of the creations Glenn has in his show room. Everything from Marlin to mangrove jack, as well as crabs, lizards, turtles and crocodiles. His finishes are outstanding. These pictures don't really do them justice.

Cheers,

Matt

how are they made, I assume a fish is needed to create a mould? Approx cost?

G'day Swano, somewhere around the metre mark I recon, 10.2kg. The barra in the first pic is a 60cm one that Glenn made up as a Trophy for the upcoming Barra Trophy Series I'm running.

Cheers,

Matt

The original molds are taken off fish. Once he has made a mold, he can make plenty of duplicates.

He has plenty of molds of various fish in various sizes. Or he can do your fish for you.

Prices start at around $400 - $500 for bass, jacks, bream sized fish, around $1000 - 1200 for Barra, Jewies, etc around the 1 - 1.3m mark, big sharks, marlin etc will be around 2- 3k.

Basically around $100 per 100mm of length.

Not cheap maybe, but if you look at the quality of craftsmanship, you can see the value in it. In fact, compared to what a plumber charged me last week for a couple of hours work. Glenn is very underpriced!!!!

Most of the stuff in the pics is up for sale. If anyone wants to contact him, Glenn's number is 0408 986 878, but he is away in NZ until thursday 15th April.

Cheers,

Matt
