Hi there fellow Tackle Nut Bags - spent the morning catching a few kings, bonito, tailor and little tuna on my bream gear - was great - but cant help but think I would have caught more if I could have made my little sol move the lure faster

Any insight in to the fastest retrieve ratios / bigger spool width on little ( 1500 - 2500 size ) reels on the market at the moment - opinions, experience etc??????

Thx

Generally speaking the Shimanos(6.1ish) have a higher gear ratio than Daiwas (4.7ish)

I think the pfluegers (supremes) run around 6.2 ....... other than that , I dont know of higher

Stradics are 6:1 ratio do not know the line retrieval per handle turn though. Symetres are the same.

Its a bit of a trap just looking for ratios. Daiwa usually have wider spools than Shimano so their retrieve is often very close. You need to know how much line is retrieved each time you turn the reel. Reel ergonomics also come into play

Very true ...... need to keep in mind the size comparison - eg 1500 Daiwa = 2000 Shimano ( similar body size & spool diameter)
