spearing the rainbow channel

hey guys i am new at spear fishing and hav only done a couple of shore dives. i was speaking to a couple of blokes who went spearing in the rainbow and said they got a few parrot and maori cod. where is the best place to start around there and if anyone has speared around peel, bird or goat island? any info would be great
