Headed out last Saturday and knocked of some nice Mackeral with Adrian.

On the way out though we came across some big balls with some serious serious sharks tearing through them.

Got a couple of good pics......Check out the mayhem and the bait getting thrown everywhere..

Hey pete,

good to see some good shots of that bait flying all over the place, it's important to have everything on your camera ready for when that shot comes up.

Good work

Great shots Pete. I came across a bait ball like that about 100m off Granite Bay. We floated right through it whith big Sharks into the bait along with some small Spotties.

Hi Gaven,

Mate just a lucky shot I think.

The bait was probably being thrown around a bit when the sharks tore through them......but I just fluked the shot when it was in the air.

They were in very close....was good to watch.

Saw something similar on Friday out mid-Moreton Bay... Sounder was constantly showing lotws of bait balls all over the place and of course, we caught a lot of smaller sharks that were chasing them. One shark almost jumped into the boat too at one stage!

Great photos Pete,

Until this year I had not seen Sharks doing ariel work when balling up bait. On my last trip out up towards Cape Flattery, I saw about 30 meteres of birds and bait working with Long Tail's and Spanish working the school. Spin rods came out and we secured a few Tuna for bait.

Within a few minutes Bronzies about 8/9 feet began working the pack and the pelagic fish promptly left. I have seen plenty of smaller sharks jump but to see 70 odd kilos of shark propel themselves 5 feet out of the air is spectacular!

Your great photos have made me try and score a few pics of them next time I am out...........hmmmm weekend plans just got thrown out the door;D

Cheers,
Nick
