I looked in the fishing shops yesterday and the similar larger hooks are nearly 3 times the price in the shops.

I had a similar problem a few years ago, a local shop was having a "closing down" sale.
I bought heaps of hooks, all Mustad, thinking I was getting a great deal, only to find that the hooks were either brittle and broke, or soft and bent easily.

Now I only use Big Guns, bought from a reputable store.

I don't get why people skimp on buying good quality hooks, happy to spend 10's of 1000's on baots and gear then skimp on hooks, the one thing that connects you to the fish! Last time the old man used a mustard hook we straighted it on a good red and lost it, at that point i emptied his tackle box of every hook and now he has no choice but to use something decent. If you want cheap good quality hooks which are the same design as a black magic jump on www.petackle.com (http://www.petackle.com) great hooks at a great price and stronger than anything you will buy from a tackle shop for a 1/4 of the price.
