Our first SE Qld trout. And not 1 trout but 2. I keep my fishing exploits very quite these days, but this was just too good and I had to brag! Can’t tell you anymore than it was caught south of Mooloolaba and north of Moreton on Saturday just gone.

On the drive to the boat ramp we were joking about our missuses favourite eating fish being trout and that we would have to move north. Weren’t we pleased with ourselves when the first just legal trout hit the esky, we then added a nice spottie to the bag and rounded it off with a thumper trout!!! ;D Also headed wide, dropped a couple of big-uns on a well known spot, live-baited a marlin (only got splash pic’s) and a mac tuna, then headed back to port in very average conditions.::)

jeffo, yeh mate that was us. some tough conditions towards the end but it was a buzz. you guys have that marlin thing sussed! we hightailed it when we thought the perfect storm was about to hit....

vertico, your not wrong, but what i really want is one of those red things your holding.

jtpython, it's not so much the spot, but the technique of fishing a spot like that. Like all things fishing.

The conditions only got worse from when you left, then didnt improve til about 2.30pm when all the cloud lifted. We saw you hooked up there at one stage but werent close enough to see how you ended up.

I think your comment on the technique could be true. I know a guy from Noosa that gets them nearly every time he goes out.

A couple of nice trout there, i have got them on a very small piece of reef out from Currimundi as well, but only in summer or just after. I had a dive on it just to have a look, it was alive with hard coral and alot of small bait
Cheers

The only place I know these buggers hang out is around Noosa, very rarely seen or caught south of Noosa.

bondy.....

Trout are regularly caught inside Moreton bay, haven't seen a thumper like the one in the pic, but certainly legal... hey Pete ?

Further........... a mate catches Red Emporer off Wooli in Nth NSW......

Yep, thumper of a trout there guys and yes, it could have come from 1770.... but I think Sean has donged them all up there ;) :P ;D maybe they all headed south to escape him ???????? :o

Seems he can only catch Reds now......... bugga !!!!!!
