On the weekend of his tenth birthday I took my son Sam on his first trip offshore. After around fifteen minutes of trolling hardbodies noth of Mudjimba island the long corner went of hard.

The young bloke picked up the rod and began his first battle with a speedster. I was anticipating a decent spot or Mac tuna. After around 20 minutes and 3 solid runs the young bloke was starting to really tire. At that time I saw the fish in the depths and called it for a good spanish. This gave him a little more energy and we soon had the fish to the boat.

Fish was approx 155cm and was roughly weighed at 18-20kg. Son asks have you ever caught one that big Dad? Answer no!

Result one very happy boy and a proud Dad!

Well done Sam;) You are a sea-rash in the making!! I know you have already given it to Rash Snr but do it again as it is far far bigger than any Spanish he's boated;) ;D You'll have to get a Dollie next and really rub it in!8-)

Congrats Sam, that is truly a cracker.

Bag a few more trophies before you turn into a huge unit like the old man - you know how his fish look when he holds them up for a photo ;)

Sam is 146 cm tall. The lure was a Halco 190 in pink and blue. Sam says thanks to all for your kind words.
