Got an email from Navico today about it..

Interesting, owners of hummingbird suing, will be interesting to see if they borrowed code or hardware, or just intellectual property.

A silly as this whole thing sounds it was Lowrance who kicked it off claiming to own patients to downscanning, no doubt some sort of accommodation will be made on both sides, its hard to see ether company really invented this stuff.

Either way the military could see both company's because somewhere along the line the technology was borrowed.

Originally I believe that Lowrance had the first concept for side scan but for what ever reason decided to not release it until recently.

I can't see how Humminbird can sue just after they got thier patent approved as Lowrance will only need to produce documents to satisfy the courts that they had been working on technology prior to the patent approval first being lodged and everything will be sweet.

Once again this is just another USA marketing ploy/campaign to get their product back in the lime light and media circles and maybe sway some Lowarance buyers to purchase Humminbird products. It’s a different form of advertising and it works. Look ate the responses it has generated already.

Its a shocking way to do business but that’s how they do it these days.
