I have a Kenwood car radio/cassette mounted in the boat. Over the last few months I am not getting reception out on the water, I used to be able to pick up stations out at the Banks etc, not a problem, now I am flat out getting reception at the rous.

It's working fine at home in the yard, do you blokes have any idea what it could be? the set, aerial?

Any advice would be welcome.

Might have a load of salt coating the end of the aerial where it goes into the set?

All the heat that the sets generates probably helps to accumulate salty air and build up a coating.

Easy to check by cleaning the socket and the spiggot ends and applying liberal amounts of vaseline to protect the ends, that vasaline stuff does the same thing with all sorts of sockets and spiggots!

i find most problems are aerial related. poor connections, salt etc. check the whole shebang and clean all fititngs see how it goes then.
