Hey all just looking for people with this boat and their thoughts on the outboard? Its recommended 150 with a max of 200.
My thoughts are the 200 would go faster and youd have plenty of power to spare, but will it drink the fuel? Or if i get the 150 or 175 will it be working to hard, plus when i need it will be the power be there?
Just your thoughts please.
Cheers Nick

Go the 200 the differance in fuel consumption will be minimal. The 585r is a wepon with a 200, great responsiveness and cruises easerly at 30 - 40mph. A 150 feels sluggish on the 585r.

Hi Mac attach i own a 570 champion with 150 etc easily does high 70klm 585r is slightly beamier to allow for twins IMO i would put 175 we used to run 115hp yamaha on 19 r 3 blokes +esky 30 snapper and do 20 knots offshore but then im old and have only owned boats for 30 years so what would i know ;)

hey nick

i have the 600r with a 150 etec, it tops out at 68klm, i would love to go to the 200. in saying that the 150 does the job.

Great boat. I do a lot of fishing on my mates 585r and it goes well with the 150 Honda on it. No real strain 3 up with 200 ltrs on board.

That being said a 200 or even a 175 would make a big difference, with the 200 you are talking 33% more power! As has been said the fuel consumption will be more but not necessarily a great deal.

I think it all boils down to how you intend to use the boat and what sort of weight it will be carrying. I would love to see how one goes with a 200 on the back.

Mate weve always had 2-strokes and the reports on the optimax are just brilliant so weve decided to stick with it.
