Just wondering what is the best sounder/gps I can get my my new seafarer (coming in May) for inshore and offshore? $2000 budget.

buy a seperate GPS/plotter with the change:)

Furuno FCV 585 would be my choice but its 2k with the 1kw transducer and then just get a coloured gps from someone like garmin for about $700, bit over your limit but well worth the extra dollars, otherwise drop down to the FCV620, bit smaller but very similar to the 585...

I've looked and that and the humminbird side scan....don't know if i would use the feature that much to be honest.

Furuno 620 and Standard horizon CP 300 chart plotter would fit in that budget if you buy direct from US.
SH CP 300 is 7 inch, high pixels and 3 year warranty.
Furuno 620 is a good reliable unit that will do most offshore fishing unless you fish very deep.
