Hi all,

Whats your thoughts on a Johnson 175EFI 02 (ficht ram injected) outboard?
DO these models have any issues?

How do they compare to say a 150hp saltwater series Yamaha?

Of the 2 which would be the better outboard assuming same year model and similar hours?

I'd be wary about Ficht motors. Me thinks that the Yamaha motors would win hands down.

If the Ficht is still running well in 2009/2010 the odds are its fine but why dont you get an OMC BRP mechanic to plug in and give you the read out.?

Its DI the Yam is 2s carby isnt it?

Where are you anyhow?

Thanks Chimo,

I live in Emerald so Im not sure of the closest OMC rep is.
Yeah the Johnson is DI and the Yam is a carby.
So I'd assume the Johnson would be more efficient?

I realise Ficht has a bad rep, but is that with the Ficht design in general? or simply from other unrelated issues?

The Ficht is afterall nearly the same as an E-tec?...

Flex et al

These got to be one up there that AF can vouch for?

The one dealing with marvin would probably not be the one to use tho.
