outboard oil

Can someone tell me if outboard oil can go off i have 2 bottles of quicksilver 2 stroke oil that is 4 to 5 years old both bottles are unopened but i have noticed that with a third bottle that i am using that there seem's to be a lot more smoke than i can rember.
