This might sound stuipid but when you park up your boat at home.
Do you leave the tilt up or down and is there any reson why??
The other week I set the boat up for a early morning fish put the tilt up the night before and by morrning the bloody thing didnt want to work.!!
I fixed the problem but it has me wondering.

What do you do??

Tilt up or down??

I leave mine tilted down, no particular reason why.

I leave them down.
Main reason to to allow full drainage and drying of any residual water in the prop hub or exhaust port.

Just thought too....trimmed down leaves the rams in. Might reduce possibility of corrosion on the rams rods.

Trimmed down......Some outboards require them to be stored down due to oil seals. My last Johnno stated in the owners manual to store in the down position....Once when I forgot it leaked from the gearbox plug!

Gday Swampman,

Mate I'm with finga & Sabre in what they have said, plus in my case its easier to walk around the back while its parked in the shed.

Definately down is the go for all the reasons below.
Some Yamahas will even leak out oil when motor raised due to poor seal

Need to drain out water and keep all your oils level in storage

Down - specified in the V-Rod manual.

down, will also reduce the weight placed on the transom, lower centre of gravity, used to be big with the older transoms, these days it would be hard to hurt a transom that way. and other reasons stated above.

Down
Drains any residual water from the motor and the oil sits in the right places
