Anybody know who could repair my chartplotter.
Pic 1 - VDO chartplotter
Pic 2 - details
Pic 3 - inside
Pic 4 Trouble spot.
It has given years of faithful service and I am wondering if this sort of problem is able to be repaired??
Thanks in advance
Ben.

OOO:o... That looks nasty.
I have repared worse looking things......but the question you have to ask......is why and what other damage is there.
That looks like some sort of serious power supply kaniptshion.
Surface mount makes it a bit harder..and no matter what it will be uggly.
What is the story.
cheers
Oh.. see that black spot on the display in pic 1.......that looks like heat damage to the LCD.
Chances are... it rests in pieces.

Damage to a multi layer board could make the job tricky

It doesn't look good.but if your dead set in trying to repair it . a computer tec might be able to help but they know how to charge.

hey benny
save up and buy a seiwa plotter for $1300 i can recommend them as repairing older units can be uneconomical just like repairing older computers! anyway its good to see your using the boat a bit lately! catch you on the water soon! thanks jim and ryan.
