Yamaha are bringing a new 70 4 stroke out in 2010,, All good for me as it will suite my 4.5 fisher spot on, i have been told that the 70 will have same size gearbox and prop as the f60, and all they have done is got an extra 1000 revs out of the f60 and this will be the new 70, this is all still good , though i have been told from a pro crabber up north that u can order the f60 and the new70 with an 80 leg , he says it makes a hell of adifferance right through the rev range and u get many more knots as well. Does anyone have some thougts about this kind of setup.:D

more suited for larger hulls like twin set ups etc

I have the 60hp yammie now......i don't like the idea of squeezing another 10 hp out of it and trying to get 70hp.......they did start life of as a 50hp to start with.

They are a small capacity engine with only about 900cc.....not much torque.

I know that the older 70hp suzi which ihad on a different boat would whip the 60 yammies but for torque......they were 1.3ltr.

If you save on weight somewhere you will have to sacrafice something somewhere else.

Being Yamaha I don't think they would release an engine that wasn't able to do the job.
