Went out from port Douglas late yesterday for a few hours and probably chuched back this Australian record Barracuda. Was caught using live Queenfish.
The fish was just over 5 feet in lenght. I guess I estimate the weight at about 30 kilo. Its the 2nd massive barracuda I've now had in the area we fish. We see a couple of big marlin smashing bait about 25km out from port.

Also had a few spanish around the 15 to 20 kilo mark

G'Day Ron,
Seems to be plenty of those big stinkin cuda up this way - my mate's Dad held the record for 6kg line (8kg line???) for quite a while - he got his off Snapper Island - can't recall the exact size (DaintreeBoy will know am sure) - but it would have been easily up there with yours (don't think it was quite in the 44kg class though ........)
