Hi all, I am having a problem fishing because the back of my boat keeps going from side to the other side and not staying still. I use snapper racks and I can cast the line straight out with the rod pointing at where the bait is then the boat will turn around abit and the rods are pointing away from the baits. Hope this makes sense.
Is there anything I can do do stop the back of the boat swaying one way then the other. I just want to keep the boat still in way place
Thanks

Do you trim your motor all the way up out of the water when anchored? If its down is it turned to one side?

Hi Brute, have you tried using a Sea Anchor (parachute)? This will keep your boat pointed in the one direction. Will considerably slow your drift also. You can set them up so you can have your boat pointed in the direction you want. I wont go offshore fishing without one in the boat. Regards Adam

I am assuming you mean it moves about when at anchor, correct? most boats will do this, others are quite OK, make sure your anchor rope is attached to the centre, and close to the bow, current and swell can also induce "swing" OH, and post in the right section for better response.

Here in PPb an offshore wind such as a Nthly's will make the boat
swing considerably.
Look at bridling your boat
This will help it from yawning around.

I think you are both sadly mis-informed and mistaken, but it is Christmas, so I forgive you.
