hi need some advice re an electric motore to drive a Quintrex 470 coast runner runabout with a 50 hp 4 s Merc on its tail :o ::) - thinking to use 12 v for ease of battery set up and maybe a stern drive mounting with an EM around the 50 / 55 thrust size - any advice re best to go stern mount or on bow mount (which is a bit complcated to do) on this size and type of boat much appreciated and - and dont want to start a big debate about which is the best but out of Mini kota , Watersnake or Motorguide any recom about an ideal unit to put of the Quin 470 would be appreciated from some who have an EM mounted on a similar type of boat - also any tips about best deals and place to buy in brisbane town or nearby appreciated
thank rob >:( ;D

absolute min 50lb thrust for that size boat and definately go bow mounted.
Stern driven tiller steer electric is a pain in the arse unless your just trolling in a straight line and dont need to maneuver too much. Bow mount you can get in and out of the most trickiest situations and handsfree too with foot controls.

That is a nice looking addition. Can you do that on any hull, or do you need to do it at the time of manufacture? I might be interested in an electric for the front of a similar hull, but this looks like lots of work.

Beautiful looking job. My only concern would then be the paint on my boat... I would probably then need to repaint the whole boat.

no wouldn't need the whole boat paited, as long as ya got a good painter! they will feather back the paint around it then spray.
